About The Project

My final gaming class at Bezalel was ‘Game Jam’, for both designers and software developers from the Hebrew University’s CS program. At the final task, we were split into groups of 4; 2 designers and 2 developers. Our brief was to develop a video game within a month, based on the Number 3. We decided to design a free fall platformer, and to embed a ‘3 states system’ which would provide the players different ways to overcome obstacles along the game.

Process

Character Design

While I was modeling the main character, I took inspiration from TV shows like Chernobil, and aspired to create a dark vibe and atmosphere in the game. Designing the characters was the easy part, while the main focus here was to build the right topology, to allow a full range of motion which was absolutely necessary for the game.

UI & Graphic Elements

Another important aspect was the UI design. Since the game mechanic could be a bit confusing for first time users, the UI must be clear and simple. Eventually, we chose to use an ‘on screen UI’ that guides the players and offers them better game control.
